According to police, on Saturday May 9, 2015, the Niagara Regional Police were called to the area of Church Street and Queenston Street, in the City of St Catharines, on a report of a fight in the area, with one of the combatants brandishing a knife.  One individual male was quickly identified by responding officers as being the cause of the fight, who fled on foot as officers arrived at the scene.  After a brief foot chase, the male was arrested without further incident.

Two of the people involved, one being the arrested male, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the St Catharines site of the Niagara Health System and later released.

A police investigation into the fight, resulted in 31 year old James Lippert, a resident of the City of St Catharines, being charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon.  Lippert was later released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date.
