Police say, on April 18, 2016 at about 6:00 am uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service along with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Niagara Emergency Medical Service responded to a single-vehicle collision in the roundabout at Highway 406 and East Main Street, in the City of Welland.

 

Witnesses observed a male and female flee from the vehicle, which turned out to have been stolen from the City of Toronto. The suspects were located and apprehended nearby, a short time later.The ensuing investigation conducted by uniform members from #3 District and investigators from the #1 District Detective Office revealed that the couple had gone on a crime spree over the weekend, spanning the Niagara Region including St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland and Port Colborne.

Arrested were two St. Catharines residents, 34-year-old Roger Morgan and 38-year-old Sandra Haslett. They are jointly charged with the following offences:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (3 counts)
– Theft Under $5,000 (2 counts)
– Fraudulently Obtaining Food and Beverage

In addition Roger Morgan is charged separately with the following offences:

– Theft Over $5,000
– Uttering Threats
– Operation While Disqualified
– Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance

The pair is scheduled to appear in bail court on April 19, 2018.
