Police say, in the early spring of 2016 the Welland Street Crime Unit began an investigation into the alleged sale of cocaine from an apartment complex on Wallace Avenue in Welland, Ontario. On Wednesday April 20, 2015 in the early afternoon hours, just prior to numerous students being dropped off from school, two people were arrested on Major Street near Brownleigh Avenue in Welland, Ontario. As a result of this investigation police seized $750.00 in suspected cocaine and over $1,000.00 in Canadian currency.
Stephen Martin, a 58 year old resident of Welland, Ontario is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 and Breach of a Recognizance. Martin, who is currently facing charges as a result of 3 previous drug investigations, is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday April 21, 2016.
Henry Brown, a 32 year old resident of Thorold, Ontario is charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00. Brown is being released on a Officer in Charge Promise to Appear a with a future court date.
