On Saturday May 7th 2016, Niagara Regional Police responded to an armed Robbery at a convenience store on Southworth St in the City of Welland.

 

Investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the store and brandished a knife while stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. The male then fled the store on foot and was chased by the store owner. The owner began alerting other citizens in the area who assisted by detaining the suspect until Police arrived.

Charged with Robbery is 37 year old Chadwick CRUMB of Welland. He is being held in custody and is scheduled for a Bail Hearing on Sunday May 8th 2016. Niagara Regional Police strongly recommend that citizens do not attempt to detain robbery suspects, but would like to acknowledge the courage shown by the citizens involved in this incident.
