Police say, on Wednesday May 25th 2016 at approximately 11:20pm, members of the Niagara Emergency Services and  the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Westdale Drive and Rykert Street, in the city of St. Catharines in response to a male that had just been stabbed. Upon arrival, police learned that the 22 year old victim got into a physical altercation with another male and suffered a single stab wound to his back. The victim was transported to the St. Catharines site of the Niagara Health System and airlifted to the Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries.

 

Several uniform officers attended the area and the suspect was arrested a short time later. Charged with Aggravated Assault and Uttering Death Threats is 24 year old Liban Ahmed Shardi of St. Catharines.

Both parties were known to each other and the victim has now been listed in stable condition.
