Fans who missed out on tickets for any of the Tragically Hip’s shows in Ontario this summer will have another chance today at 10 am.
The band has posted a message on Facebook saying that changes to the stage design mean more people will be able to attend the sold-out shows. The result? A new block of tickets will go on sale at 10 a-m for each concert venue, and each customer will only be allowed to purchase two tickets.
The announcement comes after “overwhelming demand” for the band’s Man Machine Poem tour when news broke that lead singer Gord Downie has terminal cancer.
Many fans hoping to get tickets to the farewell tour were by turns disappointed and frustrated, with tickets selling out quickly then appearing minutes later at a massive markup on resale sites.
The Hip are scheduled to play in the following cities on the following dates:
- Victoria: July 22
- Vancouver: July 24 and July 26
- Edmonton: July 28 and July 30
- Calgary: Aug. 1 and Aug. 3
- Winnipeg: Aug. 5
- London, Ont.: Aug. 8
- Toronto: Aug. 10, Aug. 12 and Aug. 14
- Hamilton: Aug. 16
- Ottawa: Aug. 18
- Kingston: Aug. 20
The official release of the band’s Man Machine Poem album will be next week.
