Police say, on June 16th 2016, members of the Niagara Regional Police responded to a road rage incident that reportedly just occurred on Highway 140. The incident was said to involve one driver threatening another driver while holding a machete style knife.

 

Police located the suspect vehicle in the East Village area of Port Colborne and initiated a traffic stop. Police subsequently arrested the driver for numerous offences.

58 year old, Uel Lamar WINGATE of St Catharines is charged with the following offences:

– Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

– Drive excess 80 Mg

– Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes

– Uttering threats

– Possession of a prohibited weapon (x 2)

Wingate is being held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing on June 17th 2016 in the City of St Catharines.
