Authentic, delicious greek cuisine and a beautiful warm and cozy ambience are what you have to look forward to in the newest addition to niagara dining…George’s Greek Village!

Created by the Kountourogiannis Family who brought St. Catharines ones of its premier dining establishments, Joe Feta’s, owner George Kountourogiannis has completely transformed the new restaurant located at 535 Queenston St. at the Homer Bridge into an inviting and beautiful space, neatly nestled on the beautiful Welland Canal.

Niagarabuzz was there for the restaurant’s soft opening which started with some friendly faces who welcomed us at the front doors…

George’s Greek Village is an establishment that has totally changed the face of what once was the well-known Frado’s restaurant on Queenston Street.  Extensive renovations in the main dining area include new light fixtures, spectacular wooden beams and rustic hardwood floors throughout that all blend together impeccably and create an intimate feeling that makes you want to relax and socialize…

Traditional checkered tableclothes, the hum of lively conversation and the smell of delicious foods like gyros, souvlaki and mousaka float through the air welcoming you in and beckoning you to stay a while…

Before we get too far, we have to say hello to the man behind this wonderful new dining establishment, George himself, working hard in the kitchen to make sure everything is perfection for his guests.  George serves up exactly what his customers want: “good food, good portions and great service.”

Georges greek salad, (or horiatiki salata), is a rough country salad made up of juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber, sliced red onion, green pepper, crumbly feta cheese and plump kalamata olives.  The greens served up alongside a piping hot loaf of fresh bread make for a wonderful starter to any meal.

Informative staff make sure you understand all the menu options and a tight kitchen means your meal arrives quickly and piping hot.

We ordered a sumptuous feast of “Chicken from the Village” (seasoned chicken breast layered with roasted red pepper and feta cheese, topped with olive oil, then baked to a golden brown)…
