Authentic, delicious greek cuisine and a beautiful warm and cozy ambience are what you have to look forward to in the newest addition to niagara dining…George’s Greek Village!
Created by the Kountourogiannis Family who brought St. Catharines ones of its premier dining establishments, Joe Feta’s, owner George Kountourogiannis has completely transformed the new restaurant located at 535 Queenston St. at the Homer Bridge into an inviting and beautiful space, neatly nestled on the beautiful Welland Canal.
Niagarabuzz was there for the restaurant’s soft opening which started with some friendly faces who welcomed us at the front doors…
George’s Greek Village is an establishment that has totally changed the face of what once was the well-known Frado’s restaurant on Queenston Street. Extensive renovations in the main dining area include new light fixtures, spectacular wooden beams and rustic hardwood floors throughout that all blend together impeccably and create an intimate feeling that makes you want to relax and socialize…
Traditional checkered tableclothes, the hum of lively conversation and the smell of delicious foods like gyros, souvlaki and mousaka float through the air welcoming you in and beckoning you to stay a while…
A view down the main hallway that highlights the charming warm interior that has been artfully separated to create intimate spaces as well as large conversation areas. Below the servers communicate their orders to the chefs waiting in the modernized kitchen…
Before we get too far, we have to say hello to the man behind this wonderful new dining establishment, George himself, working hard in the kitchen to make sure everything is perfection for his guests. George serves up exactly what his customers want: “good food, good portions and great service.”
Ample bar service located in a centralized area of the dining room ensure diners enjoy a vast array of beers, wines and liquors served up by the efficient team of staff…
George’s Greek Village certainly caters to everyone be it for a night of fun family dining….
Or for large scale groups looking to have a memorable evening out. An on-site private banquet facility (seating for 140 people), also makes Georges a perfect place for all your special occasions. Cheers!
A wide variety of menu items ensures there is something at George’s to please every palate. From appetizers to ample entrees of lamb, chicken and seafood, everyone in the family will find something to tickle their tastebuds!
The breathtaking location of the restaurant, allows diners to enjoy the view, or even watch the magnificent Great Lakes ships float by. In the summer months up to 40 patrons can sit outside and enjoy mother nature up close.
Date night anyone? George’s is the perfect place to make your sweetheart and your pocket book happy. Shareable platters make dining fun and romantic!
Georges greek salad, (or horiatiki salata), is a rough country salad made up of juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber, sliced red onion, green pepper, crumbly feta cheese and plump kalamata olives. The greens served up alongside a piping hot loaf of fresh bread make for a wonderful starter to any meal.
Informative staff make sure you understand all the menu options and a tight kitchen means your meal arrives quickly and piping hot.
We ordered a sumptuous feast of “Chicken from the Village” (seasoned chicken breast layered with roasted red pepper and feta cheese, topped with olive oil, then baked to a golden brown)…
and lamb shoulder chops marinated and charbroiled…served up with tzatziki and roast potatoes…WOW
George’s takes great pride in preparing all their menu options with only the freshest local ingredients. The results? Outstanding flavour and food quality and lots of happy customers.
And let’s not forget about the best part…dessert! Begin with a specialty coffee and then let your sweet tooth run wild as you enjoy delectable kataifi, baklava and kourabiethes.
Overall an incredible dining experience that will leave you wanting more! George’s Greek Village officially opens to the public Wednesday Oct 5, 2016 @ 11 am. and also offers takeout plus full catering options.
