Debbie Reynolds, the late Carrie Fisher’s 84 year old mom has passed away.

 

Reynolds who rose to stardom in Hollywood with “Singin’ in the Rain”  and played iconic roles in “Tammy and the Bachelor” and “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”,  reportedly died Wednesday as a result of a stroke .

Debbie’s divorce from Eddie Fisher in 1959 got major attention from the public after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. After that Debbie married 2 more times in 1960 and 1984.

Carrie Fisher’s relationship with her mom Debbie was the focus of Carrie’s semi-autobiographical book, “Postcards from the Edge,” which was later adapted for the big screen, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

The double tragedy in one of Hollywood’s most famous families has left fans reeling.  Debbie is survived by her son Todd.
