Police say that on January 17, 2017, at approximately 8:15 AM officers from the 2 District – Niagara Falls office of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of a violent robbery where a residence in the area of Queen Street and St. Clair Avenue was forcibly entered by a male armed with a knife.

 

Once inside the male suspect demanded money and a struggle ensued with a victim.  During the struggle the male victim was injured.  The suspect fled the scene with a female suspect who had been waiting nearby. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The victim’s injuries are considered serious but not life threatening.

The investigation by detectives from the 2 District Criminal Investigation Branch has led to the identification, and arrest of the male and female.

Charged with the alleged offences of Aggravated Assault and Robbery are:

– Mayden GUERRERO (27 yrs) of St. Catharines (female)

– Terry EMPEY (29 yrs) of Niagara Falls (male)

There are no suspects outstanding.  This is not believed to be a random act.

Empey and Guerrero will both be attending a bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch courthouse in St. Catharines on this Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
