A 44 year old woman has been charged following an alleged stabbing in St. Catharines.

 

At approximately 11:40 pm on Saturday night Niagara Regional police say they were called to a home in the area of Ernest Street and Cecil Street in St. Catharines with reports of a male injured.

When Emergency crews arrived, they found a man with injuries; he was air-lifted to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Domestic Violence Unit has revealed he was injured during an altercation.

As a result, the residence on Ernest Street is currently being maintained by police. The matter is being investigated as a domestic disturbance and the name of the accused will not be released in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim. The investigation is ongoing.

The female arrested at the scene is being held in police custody to await a bail hearing.
