On Monday, July 29, at approximately 10:05 PM, concerned citizens in Welland reached out to the police to check on a man unconscious and sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.

 

The police investigation in a rear parking lot in the area of 51 East Main Street, led to the identification of the man as Daniel Roepke 34 years old, from Welland.  He was then arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drugs, Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime. Roepke will be held pending a bail hearing.

An estimated street value of $5,640.00 in suspected Fentanyl was located in the vehicle, seized and safely kept out of the community. Approximately $750.00 cash was also seized in relation to this incident as Proceeds of Crime.
