Every fundraiser we have is about the animals. Fundraising is essential in any non- profit organization. For us, fundraising events help us accomplish our goals to give every animal in our care what they need as they live with us until we find them the perfect forever family. We work hard to offer a variety of fundraising events so that there is something for everyone. Rock 4 Paws is going to be a fun night with music, and a variety of great prizes to be won.

September 29, we will be hosting Bow Wow and Chow, an outdoor family event held at the Greg Frewin Theatre. We will be doing pet adoptions, and there will be music, vendors, kids activities, food and more. We hope to see you there.

We have some heart-tuggers at our shelters right now. Pictured is handsome Richard. What sweet natured, lovable guy. Richard is 6+, and came into the shelter as a stray. Our staff all love him. I just went to see him, and he begged for some cuddles and head scratches, and I was happy to oblige. He’s kind of irresistible with his cute bobtail. He is FIV positive, so he would need a home where he is the only cat, or one with other FIV kitties. Our friend and supporter Michael Pellegrino helps to de-mystify FIV.

“I took in my cat Buddy almost two years ago. He was a stray so I got him all caught up on vaccinations and aside from needing a couple teeth pulled, we learned he was also FIV+. We estimate he was 5 at the time. Any FIV+ cat may need a little more attention given their weaker immune system – for example, I feed Buddy a digestive sensitive wet food because other foods don’t agree with him. Other than that, he leads a very happy, fun, loving, playful, independent (and strictly indoor) life. He loves looking out the window at the life he was happy to leave behind. He is a sweet and loving boy and loves to drool with happiness when he purrs. Just don’t try to take away his nip lol.

Please, if you’re considering adopting Richard, don’t let the FIV+ turn you off. This boy is ready to love the right family. Most FIV+ cats go on to live happy, healthy, and long lives just as any other cat would.”

Our sweet boy Tucker is also still here at the shelter. (Pictured below)

Tucker

Tucker is awesome, but he’s struggling to find his forever family. Tucker is the favourite of Vanessa, one of our summer students, and she loves spending time with him. He is smart, strong, playful, affectionate, energetic and loyal. We believe he would be happiest as the only pet in the home. After spending so long at the shelter, he deserves to be the king of the castle anyway.

Mark your calendars for Gala 2019 on November 2. With a medieval theme, it’s going to be an amazing evening. We have a lot of fun planned for you!
