Police say that at approximately 7:17 p.m. on Friday October 25th, 2019, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Welland Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on King Street at State Street in the City of Welland.

 

The initial investigation revealed that a 67-year-old Welland man was on King Street when he was struck by a northbound 2005 Dodge Ram pick up truck, that was being driven by a 25-year-old St.Catharines man.

The pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to an out of town hospital.  The pedestrian has since died in hospital due to the injuries.

The driver of the Dodge did not suffer any physical injuries in this collision.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
