Niagara Regional Police report that they have made an arrest of a woman in relation to a drug overdose death of a 24 year old man.

 

In January of 2022, police say the St. Catharines detective office and the Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit began an investigation into the death of a 24-year-old male who died in his St. Catharines home. His death has been determined to have been directly caused by the consumption of an Opioid.

As a result of the investigation a 45-year-old female from St. Catharines was arrested on February 14, 2022, and is charged with:

Trafficking a Controlled Substance contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Causing Death by Criminal Negligence contrary to section 220 (b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is a family member of the deceased. She is not being identified to protect the identity of the deceased.

The accused is being held pending a video bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse on February 15, 2022.
