Niagara Regional Police say an armed robbery is under investigation in St. Catharines.

On September 12, 2022, at approximately 4:43pm, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of an armed robbery in west St. Catharines.

Officers arrived on scene at the Esso Gas Station located at 179 St. Paul Street West. The initial investigation determined that a lone male had entered the store armed with a handgun. The unknown suspect stole a chocolate bar, cigarettes, and an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. The suspect ran from the scene. The lone clerk was not injured.

A NRPS K9 Unit along with officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit commenced a search of the area for the suspect. The suspect was not located. The investigation has now been assigned to 1 District detectives. The scene was processed by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.

White male, early 20s
5’8” ft. tall
Slender build
The suspect was wearing:

Grey track pants
Running shoes
Black long sleeve sweater with a small white Nike swoosh on it
Beige bucket hat
Blue surgical mask
Dark Sunglasses
