Welland condominium developers Evertrust Developments are working closely with the City after a Saturday night construction site incident.

Evertrust Development staff were on location Sunday morning alongside the Mayor of the City of Welland, the Ministry of Labour and other officials  as a thorough investigation begins immediately into a structural damage occurrence that happened at Upper Vista Welland located at 350 Prince Charles Drive South.

On Saturday Feb 18, 2023 a contained portion of the unoccupied structure in the south tower fell and was reported by a neighbour to Welland Fire and Emergency Services who attended the scene with the on call city foreman to ensure the site was safely secured.

Mayor of the City of Welland Frank Campion said he has been on top of the situation with Evertrust Development’s President Dr. Ted Zhou since word was received of the incident.

“I talked with Dr. Zhou early this morning the owner of the project to open up the doors of communication and he has been extraordinarily cooperative and his organization is doing everything that is appropriate for this type of situation and being very responsible to make sure all of the rules are being followed.  Our staff is also here to help.   We have our Chief Building Official on site now and will continue working with the folks here already to make sure everything is under control.”

In addition to the necessary investigations, Evertrust has ensured 24 hour security to be placed on location to ensure the utmost in safety at this time.

Although there has been a setback with the project, Evertrust who have a long standing reputation of building high quality luxury homes look forward to taking all necessary protocols to rectifying the current situation as they look  forward to completing the sold out 226 unit project.

This incident will be thoroughly investigated by both the Ministry of Labour and the City of Welland’s Building Division to determine the cause and impact on the condition of the remainder of the structure.
