Police say, in early 2016 members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Morality Unit commenced an investigation into heroin trafficking taking place in the City of St. Catharines. On March 17, 2016 police were granted judicial authorization to search a St. Catharines Dwelling house and vehicle.  Concurrent to this police were conducting surveillance and made arrests after observing what appeared to be a drug transaction.

 

With the assistance of the PAVIS Unit and the Gungs Gangs and Grows Unit the search warrants were executed.  Police seized approximately 30 grams of heroin, street value $9500 and related trafficking paraphernalia. As a result of this investigation Trevor Winterstein 47 years of St. Catharines is being charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 counts) and Possession of Proceeds of Crime (2 counts).

Trevor Winterstein was held in custody for a bail hearing to take place in St. Catharines on March 18, 2016. Investigation into this incident continues and further arrests are anticipated.
