Police say a 28 year old man is facing charges following a collision in Niagara Falls that caused a gas leak.

The collision happened at approximately 10:00am Friday July 7, 2017 in the area of Lundy’s Lane near Main Street in the City of Niagara Falls.

In the course of the collision, the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, went over a curb and struck three local businesses on the north side of Lundy’s Lane, severing a gas main.

Following the impact the driver tried to flee, striking a nearby flower bed and an unoccupied parked car.

The male suspect then attempted to flee on foot through nearby parking lots before returning to the scene of the collision where he was arrested by officers and taken to 2-District Niagara Falls Holding Cells.
Emergency response personnel were able to shut off the gas main and contain the leak.
