According to police, on the evening of December 28th 2016, a Welland Pharmacy was the victim of a robbery where Fentanyl patches were the target. The male suspect responsible for that robbery is still at large.
On January the 7th 2016, another Welland Pharmacy was the victim of a robbery, where again Fentanyl patches were the target. The male responsible for that incident is still at large.
On January the 12th 2016 a third Welland Pharmacy was robbed. Once again Fentanyl patches appeared to be the robber’s primary target. The male responsible for that incident is still at large.
As a result of information developed during the investigation of these matters, police are seeking to identify an adult male who may, inadvertently, have information about one or more of these incidents.
Police are seeking community assistance in identifying the male seen in the attached images. Citizens who think they may know the identity of this male are asked to call the 3 District Detective Office at (905) 688-4111, exts. 3320, 3321, 3355, 3342, and 3314. Citizens with information can also report their information anonymously by using Crime Stoppers of Niagara.
Police would also like to remind citizens that Fentanyl is a dangerous narcotic. Fentanyl patches are often used to manage severe pain, and it is often administered through a transdermal (skin) patch that allows for a steady extended release of the medication through absorption into the blood stream. However, as a synthetic drug with a significantly greater potency than morphine, fentanyl has been linked to hundreds of overdoses and deaths in North America among individuals who use it improperly.
