Police say since January of 2016, members of the St.Catharines Street Crime Unit have been conducting an investigation into an individual suspected of trafficking cocaine in the City of St.Catharines.

As the investigation progressed police began observing suspected drug deals from this individual at his residence. A serious concern to Police was that this individual was conducting his suspected drug dealing within close proximity of an Elementary School and a Public Park that is regularly used by families with small children.

On Thursday April 22nd 2016, police observed several suspected drug deals from this residence by this individual during afternoon into the evening.  A search warrant was granted for a Rodman Street residence which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of Cocaine, Oxycodone, Marihuana, Canadian and American currency.

Upon entry into the residence Police were assaulted by this individual where they sustained minor injuries.

Arrested and charged was 47 year old John CERVONE of St.Catharines:

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 3
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
Assaulting a Peace Officer

As a result of this investigation Police seized $2500 worth of Cocaine, Oxycodone, Marihuana and $8100 in Canadian and American Currency.

CERVONE has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 22nd 2016.

Police are genuinely appreciative for the support provided by the St.Catharines residents for assisting in this matter. Members of the public are also encouraged to contact police to curtail any future problems in their community.
