It looks like things are moving forward for the new senior’s development planned for the 155 Ontario Street location in St. Catharines that once was the Hotel Dieu hospital site.

Seasons Retirement Communities, which currently has a local component in Welland, has indicated that things are moving forward as anticipated this year although no firm date has been identified for the start of construction.

The retirement community will provide a full spectrum of care options from independent living to assisted living, including memory care. It will eventually offer a senior’s apartment building and an apartment complex, all within walking distance of downtown.

In the latest updates the project is progressing as anticipated, as multi-year planning for projects like this is typical. Phase 1 is planned to be a 140 suite retirement residence and phase 2 will be a 30 suite senior’s apartment building, which will be connected to the retirement residence.  Future phases are still to be planned. It is Seasons intention to begin construction in 2018.

Pricing, service information and occupancy dates for the new development will be released once the leasing office is opened.
