The Niagara Regional Police Service is currently investigating multiple incidents involving Counterfeit U.S. currency.

 

On Tuesday July 31 a female suspect attended the Walmart located at 285 Geneva St. in St. Catharines and completed a purchase using counterfeit U.S currency in $20 and $50 bill denominations. The female then went to a waiting grey Honda Civic with Ontario plates being driven by a man.

A subsequent police investigation revealed that the female went to many other stores including:  Walmart at 525 Welland Ave in St. Catharines, The Bay at 221 Glendale Ave, as well as the Walmart located at 7481 Oakwood Dr in Niagara Falls where additional purchases were made using counterfeit U.S. currency.

The items purchased by the female suspect were high end electronic and gaming items as well as high end clothing.

The female suspect is described as black, 20-30 years of age, 5’1″-5’3″ in height, 150-170 lbs. The female was wearing a tight black dress, white sandals, gold chain necklace and carrying a red or maroon purse.

The male suspect is described as black, 20-30 years of age, with a piercing in his left ear.

Police are reminding businesses to be extra vigilant in receiving U.S currency especially in denominations of $20 and $50.
