Police telling now say they have identified a man and his child, who were the subject of an air and foot search earlier this week in the Niagara Gorge. A concerned citizen contacted police on Monday, after spotting a man carrying a baby heading down the stairs into the Gorge.

Police say the citizen became worried because neither the man nor the baby were dressed appropriately for hiking. NRP, Parks Police and Niagara Helicopters all participated in a search of the Gorge.

Police now say both are safe and the investigation is closed.
