Police say that they are looking for a man after an early morning stabbing Friday.
At approximately 3:00 AM on May 4th, a man knocked on a Maureen Avenue residence, near Donna Marie Drive in Welland, for the purpose of confronting the home owner about a personal dispute. Shortly after the home owner answered the door, a physical altercation took place. During the altercation the home owner was cut with an edged weapon. The male suspect fled the scene and has not yet been located.
A warrant of arrest for Aggravated Assault is being sought for the male suspect in this matter, who is identified as Jason C. Smith, aged 43 years, of Port Colborne, Ontario. At this time Smith should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone seeing SMITH is asked to call police immediately. The suspect is pictured below:
A vehicle believed to be involved in this incident is described as a 2009 Dodge RAM Pickup, black in colour, bearing Ontario registration AA28912. Anyone seeing this vehicle is asked to immediately call police and report its location.
Police believe this matter is not a random assault, but a targeted attack.
